Argh gee thanks for promoting my services again!! It was super awesome to hang with you! What makes me happy is being outside in nature, connections with other humans (esp my kids) feeling like I’m doing something useful/ good, drum and bass, cold water, birds (esp birds of prey) , ice cream, coffee, growing vegetables, mushrooms, it goes on and on....
heeeeeeeey, i'm a card-carrying people pleaser too. it's both really good and really f*c*ing inconvenient at times. love the inivitiation to share what makes one happy. your words are like sun beams -- shooting rays of goodness.
happiness for me:
// making lists
// discovering new words
// early mornings (alone)
// tramping through cities purposely getting lost
// reading
// writing
// staring at the sky
// going to the cinema (alone)
// cycling (alone)
// meeting people
// flying my kite
// throwing, kicking, chasing, catching a ball/frisbee
// my moring sit (meditation)
// listening to music, loudly
// cooking for others
// chatting shit, shooting the breeze with friends
Oooohh Phil this is such a lovely, lovely list! Thank you for sharing and sorry it's been a minute for me to reply. I hope you've had many of these things in your life over the past week, and I really resonate with you writing (alone) next to some of them! Sending happy and uplifting sunbeams your way from Cornwall. Not many sunbeams here at present, but what we have is shared with you! xx
Swimming in mountain lakes, people with whom I laugh so hard I worry for my bladder, cake, a cat lying on my chest, fields of sunflowers, the smell of the pink rose in the garden…
Those lists look amazingly familiar. I will add photography with old film cameras.
What's odd is that I will sit in my chair in the living room actively resisting getting up and doing what I know I will enjoy and will fine tie-loosening and otherwise rewarding.
(I may not be officially ADHD, but after talking for several hours non-stop with my wonderful niece, who is, she said to me, "Yeah. You're one of us."
Ahh ha I recognise that trait of actively resisting the getting up and doing what makes you happy Steven! You might we be one of the gang, or maybe everyone feels similarly! We're all on a spectrum somewhere aren't we. xx
Such a great post again! As a fellow people pleaser an eye opener to really look at the things that make ME happy. Will add on my to-do list of unf*ckery!
